Rebuild - Part 4

Purchased a new seat for the SP as well, only driver side currently, Recaro SP-G Carbon Kevlar. Bought a used one which was going for a very good price and in very good condition. Pictures below

It is quite light and feels good to sit on, not sure about how well it will fare on longer journeys, especially since I have gained more weight!! Hoping to get another one to complement the passenger seat and a lightweight 4 point harness to go with it. Sabelt here I come!!
Here is quite a recent picture of SP outside the workshop. Notice anything different, besides the different color bonnet of course? Sorry picture quality aint that good as it was taken from my mobile phone.

And a sneak peek of whats coming up, was mocking things up for my new airbox.
Till next time!

Bro,

Once your done, can I feature your ride in my blog? I'm guessing 180-200hp on wheels or might be more :)

Sure...but u got to wait for it to be ready first!!

I dont know, dont want to speculate, but as long its 180 whp and above, I cant complain I guess. The idea is to still maintain drivability on the street, and not all out power!

The air box will make it look much more civilized :P ..... and to a certain extent a lower profile if you dont know what to look for.

Then again, the Air Box alone has blown me away... I can't wait to see and hear it.

wow. love the engine! btw can i know do u still maintain matspeed camshaft or already change to another cam? how's your idling when u open the air-conditioning? i have bad idling especially when i open the air-conditioning eventhough i already use ficd. any suggestion?

akatsuki,

currently yes still running matspeed cam, but not after the engine is run in.

its all on the ecu, previously running J5 ecu, on idle i cannot use the aircond. but once i went standalone this is not a problem anymore. It may be now with the ITB, but lets see.

what ecu n cams are you using?

thx for the feedback bro. btw im using matspeed cam with a rechipped ecu. . i might change it to a new set of wilder camshaft profile since the one i'm using now is quite tame =p

wilder cams also means less streetability. but it all depends on what you want.

my current cams are also from matspeed, 292in and 288 ex. They will be going on sale in about 3-4months time as I have invested in a new billet JUN cams. I am going to run in and set up SP with this cam so that I know the difference in power gains on my current engine.

with a chipped ecu usually it will not provide control on idling speed and a/c compensation which will make idling suffer and worse on much wilder cams.

Thanks for the information bro. Btw you have taken a good move by changing to a JUN billet cams. ITBs love cams with high duration. Good luck with your project.

Dear Bro,

I found article about the carbon gti spioler. My spoiler has cracked. Appreciate if you could kindly help in sourcing carbon spoiler for gti.

i can see the haltech map sensor is attached to the firewall, any attention to tuck in the wire as well for a clean kind of engine bay? should be nice tho? :D

tom hagen,

u talking about the front splitter or the rear spoiler for the gti?

Unfortunately the guy who does the CF stuff has stopped making them, hence you dont see new CF parts. I am sorry but I am afraid I cant be of much help on this.

Wan,

Yups, have plans, lets wait and see!
