Catpain

Picture above is what one of my local friendly stray cats did to my car cover. Because of the cat problem I've been having for the last couple years I've had to change car covers every 6 months or so. And because of the cat, the SP now has 2 car covers and lotsa rags on the bonnet to protect it. Not that I'm being paranoid but imagine what would happen if kitty dearest exercises it's claw sharpening on the carbon bonnet! This latest incident even holed the additional car cover below. Luckily the bonnet was unmarked. On top of this the cats like to fertilize the garden and backyard with their faeces and my poor parents and me have had to wash the compound and backyard nearly every other week.

I've tried everything from putting additional fencing (but these buggers climb better than Spiderman) to washing the compound with vinegar. (only worked for bout 2 weeks before our excellent rains washed off everything) to chasing them and spraying them with water but they keep coming back. This latest incident is fast approaching the last straw as far as I'm concerned. Apart from getting a shotgun and blowing these buggers to kitty heaven does someone have a better suggestion? Any volunteers to come catch the cats?

i have the same prob.. my neighbour has loads of f**kin cats that come and shit all over.. what u can do is spray em cat/pet repellent. they sell em.. try hardware stores, those that sell many gardening equipment.. ask for "cat repellent". works! but u have to keep spraying frm time to time.. just a lil here and ther.

but id go with the gun solution.. guarantee no repeats. as long as u get a silencer.. no need shotgun.. 2 strong kickback and too loud.. will damage surroundings with the buckshot too.. just get a pistol with a supressor.. XP

i'm experiencing the same problem. just found a bad scratch on the bonnet this morning! andrew, what car cover are you using? is it one of those breatheable ones? I remember reading somewhere we have to be careful in choosing car covers so as to not damage the paintwork in the long run. Any ideas?

Yup.. I'm using one of those breathable cr covers. Cost more than a hundred bucks per cover though and having to change them every six months or so hurts :(

Uruhara-sv,

"wax ur car kao kao.... cats will slip right off!"

Hahahahah.. U really make my day! Thanks ;) The cat repellant option sounds good. Are they available in spray form like mosquito repellant?

cat repellent comes in the spray bottle type... like those liquid "in between waxing" stuff for ut car. sth like those window washer janitor spray.

Letting go on the bonnet still ok but worse case is when kitty thinks "Looks like my claws need some pedicure. Hey, this nice balck shiny surface is a good place to work on it.."

andrew, try getting the electric gizmo which make ultrasonic sounds to ward off rats. apparently they work on cats too, though it says otherwise on the box.

all else fails, get a dog la...

years ago, a cat jumped from the neighbours high wall and on to my sunroof. it cracked.

ive used cheap towels to cover my car rather than the car-cover sheet as they get poked easily.

andrew, buy a cat scratch-post. XP

Guys,

Dogs and electronic gizzmo what nots are not cheap. Plus I don't have the time to take car of the dog. Also one of my friend's dog chewed up her cars mudflaps!

i got it at a hardware store in ampang point.. its closed now, but i think thers another at leisure mall.. its "jims hardware" there, they had a gardening section. those repellents are supposed to keep cats frm shittin in ur pots. u guys can try petshops also... or those hardware stores that have a gardening section.. ie, ace hardware in midvalley and also the hardware store in one utama, new wing, lowest floor.. i think those places shud sell.. andrew, do u need the repellent asap?
